High School Band Open to all students in grades 8-12. Students will be actively involved
in learning and making music as individuals to form a team/band. Through this process students concentrate on developing musical
skills such as tone production, rhythmic proficiency, intonation, music terminology, music theory, music history, sight-reading,
and musical interpretation. Emphasis will be placed on the process to achieve excellent performances. The majority of first
trimester will be spent as a marching band in preparation for performances at home football games, pep rallies, parades, and
competitions. The remaining trimesters will be in the concert band and small ensemble setting. This is a full year elective
curricular class that counts for credit towards your grade point average. Students with schedule conflicts
that wish to take the class for only part of the year must arrange this with the director immediately. The
director reserves the right to remove students who are not putting forth effort and respectable behavior.
